Box Score

St. Mary's City, Md. – Forwards Nicole Bencsik (Telford, Pa./Souderton) and Linda Cimini (Cape May, N.J./Middle Township) each found the back of the cage in leading Eastern Mennonite University to a 2-0 victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.

Following a scoreless first half, Eastern Mennonite's (9-6) first goal came at 44:11 as senior defender Hailee Rittle (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) collected a loose ball outside the circle and fired it towards the near post where Bencsik was waiting to deflect it in.

Cimini picked up an unassisted goal at 51:40 as she corralled a misplayed defensive clear, broke through two defenders and flicked it past senior goalkeeper Lydia Garcia (Bowie, Md./Seton) into the far right corner.

St. Mary's (10-4) came out more aggressive following a timeout after EMU's second goal, generating three shots and two penalty corners while maintaining possession for the final 18 minutes.

Senior Becky Nolt (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) made three saves in recording her third shutout of the season.

Eastern Mennonite edged the Seahawks in shots, 9-8, while penalty corners were even at 5-5.

Garcia finished the afternoon with six stops in the loss.

The Seahawks will return to action this Saturday, October 23 when they travel to Fredericksburg, Virginia to take on University of Mary Washington in their final Capital Athletic Conference contest of 2010 at 1:00 pm.
