Seahawks Fall at No. 17 Salisbury

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team dropped their third straight contest Saturday afternoon, suffering a 3-0 setback to No. 17 Salisbury University in Capital Athletic Conference action.

St. Mary's (2-7-1, 1-3 CAC) hopes to snap its three-game losing skid on Wednesday, October 6 when they welcome Shenandoah University to Seahawk Stadium for non-conference action at 4:00 pm.

Salisbury (10-0-2, 3-0 CAC) owned a 2-0 halftime lead as junior midfielder Stafford Chipungu (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) and sophomore forward Phil Bucheimer (Frederick, Md./Middletown) each found the back of the net.

Sophomore midfielder Jimmy Mundy (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) made it a 3-0 final with a tally at 80:30.  Senior defender Justin Lambert (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) finished the afternoon with two assists.

Junior forward Ted Scharfenberg (Holbrook, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) fired off the Seahawks' only two shots on goal as Salisbury finished with a 19-6 shot advantage and a 5-2 margin in corner kicks.

Senior goalie Paul Spranklin (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) picked up four saves for St. Mary's.
