St. Mary's City, Md. – Sophomore forward
Tori
Eskay (Damascus, Md./Urbana) has now scored seven
goals in two games as Eskay recorded her second
consecutive multiple-goal game in a 4-1 victory for the St. Mary's
College of Maryland women's soccer team over Hood College in
Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Eskay scored all four goals for the Seahawks
(3-4-1, 3-1 CAC) and now leads the team with 10 scores on the
season. This is just her second career hat trick after
notching her first one in a 4-1 at Wesley College on Wednesday
night with three tallies.
All the scoring occurred in the second half as both teams
managed only one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.
Eskay started the scoring just three minutes
into the second half as she connected with a cross from junior
captain Bridget
McGovern (Wrentham, Mass./King Philip Regional) for
her first goal of the day.
Hood (4-8, 0-5 CAC) evened the match at 52:19 when the Blazers'
leading scorer, senior midfielder Cara Jordan
(Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg), took a feed from sophomore forward
Stevey Markovich (Hagerstown, Md./Smithsburg) and
chipped it over first-year Kelsey Wirtz
(Parkton, Md./Hereford) who had come out to break up the play.
Eskay then struck for three goals in a
four-minute span with first-year midfielder Johanna Rambo
(Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) assisting on two goals at 78:18 and
82:13. Eskay picked up an unassisted goal at
80:35 for her third of the afternoon.
St. Mary's finished the contest with a 24-6 advantage in shots
and a 9-1 margin in corner kicks.
Wirtz played in 83 minutes with three saves
while fellow classmate Shelby Perkins
(Forest Hill, Md./Notre Dame Prep) finished out the game with one
stop.
Senior Rachelle Buhrman (Smithsburg,
Md./Middletown) turned away five shots for the Blazers.
The Seahawks look to extend their win streak to three tomorrow
when they welcome Christopher Newport University to Seahawk Stadium
for non-conference action at 2:00 pm.
