St. Mary's City, Md. – Four different players scored for Christopher Newport University as the Captains registered a 5-0 victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team in non-conference action on a rainy, sloppy Sunday afternoon.

The loss snapped a two-game win streak for the Seahawks (3-5-1) who look to get back in the win column when they resume Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday, October 9, hosting league foe, York (Pa.) College, in Seahawk Stadium at 2:00 pm.

Christopher Newport (6-4-1) owned a 3-0 halftime advantage as first-year forward Emma O'Reilly (Springfield, Va./South County) and sophomore midfielder Dani Gunderson (Newport News, Va./Denbigh) each found the back of the net at 6:19 and 41:03, respectively.  The Captains' third goal was an own goal at 21:07 as a CNU cross went off a defender's knee.

Senior midfielder Meghan Arbegast (Montclair, Va./Forest Park), who finished with a goal and an assist for the Captains, notched her first goal of the season at 79:25 as Arbegast put in a loose ball at the far post.  Junior defender Shelby Walters (San Antonio, Texas/W.T. Woodson [Va.]) completed the scoring with a shot from the top of the box at 82:52.

The Captains posted a 24-9 shot advantage as well as a 6-3 margin in corner kicks.

First-year Kelsey Wirtz (Parkton, Md./Hereford) made five saves and gave up three goals in 72 minutes while fellow classmate Shelby Perkins (Forest Hill, Md./Notre Dame Prep) played the final 18 minutes.
