Fredericksburg, Va. – Halloween Sunday marked the last curtain call for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team as a 1-0 loss at University of Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference first round action put an end to the Seahawks' 2010 campaign.
Fifth-seeded St. Mary's (5-13-2) held No. 4-seed Mary Washington scoreless in the first half but an unassisted goal in the 60th minute by senior forward T.L. Tutor (Islesboro, Maine/Gould Academy) became the eventual game-winner.
The Eagles (10-5-2) tallied a 13-8 shot advantage while St. Mary's junior Taylor Lewis (Upper Marlboro, Md./Leonardtown) had the game's only corner kick in the second half.
Juniors Brian Payne (Catonsville, Md./Calvert Hall) and Ted Scharfenberg (Holbrook, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) and sophomore forward Ryan Plaisance (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg) each had one shot on goal for the Seahawks.
Senior goalkeeper Paul Spranklin (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) made six saves in his last collegiate match.
