Box Score

Fredericksburg, Va. – Despite strong play on the field, the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team was unable to avoid a 2-0 loss to University of Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

Most of the action for the first half was in the midfield as only one corner kick was given up and just a total of six shots (4 for Mary Washington) were taken for a scoreless draw at halftime.

Mary Washington (6-0-1, 2-0 CAC), who is ranked fifth in the South Atlantic region, finally broke through in the 53rd minute when junior midfielder Bram Sims (Boston, Va./Culpeper) finished off a pass from senior midfielder Ryan Taibl (Centreville, Va./Westfield).

The Eagles went up 2-0 at 61:49 when senior forward T.L. Tutor (Islesboro, Maine/Gould Academy) scored an unassisted goal for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Mary Washington edged the visitors in shots, 8-6, and corner kicks, 1-0.

Defenders Greg Primiano (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) and Mike Warburton (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and junior midfielder Brian Payne (Catonsville, Md./Calvert Hall) notched the Seahawks' three shots on goal.

The Seahawks look to rebound this Saturday, September 25 when they entertain York (Pa.) College, who is tied for sixth in the South Atlantic region, in another league tilt at 3:30 pm.
