Straub (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) put forth a
solid effort in helping the St. Mary's College of Maryland
volleyball team to a 3-0 decision over her older sister's squad,
Hood College, in Capital Athletic Conference action Tuesday
night.
Straub dished 33 assists, had nine digs, served
up four aces and added two kills as the Seahawks (11-5, 2-1 CAC)
notched their third straight victory and Straub
got the best of her sister, Kristina, a senior
outside hitter for Hood.
St. Mary's outlasted a pesky Blazer squad for a 25-20 win in the
first set but then easily recorded 25-14, 25-9 victories in the
next two sets.
Senior outside hitter Claire Kodan
(Olney, Md./Sherwood) paced the offense with 10 kills while
chipping in five kills. First-year middle blocker Trish
Kallis (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) contributed
eight kills and two aces while junior outside hitter Shannon
Fitzpatrick (Germantown, Md./St. John's College
[D.C.]) had five kills, four digs, and two service aces.
The Seahawks continue league action on Thursday, September 30 as
they host CAC rival, York (Pa.) College, at 7:00 pm.
