St. Mary's City, Md. – First-year forward
Rachel West (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) found the
back of the net twice in leading regionally-ranked Gettysburg
College to a 3-1 victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland
women's soccer team in non-conference action Wednesday
afternoon.
The first half ended in a scoreless draw as Gettysburg (3-0) had
a goal called back in the 16th minute following an offensive push
inside the box. St. Mary's had quality chances as well,
including first-year midfielder Yvonne Latour's
(Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) corner kick bended just outside
the far post.
Sophomore forward Casey Attanasio (Newtown,
Pa./Council Rock North) started the scoring for the Bullets, who
rank seventh in the Mid-Atlantic region as
Attanasio sent in a floater from the left side of
the box into the far top right corner just 1:16 into the start of

(Fayetteville, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) sent in a corner kick near
the top of the box and West finished with a chip
just underneath the crossbar.
West nabbed her team-leading third goal of the
season just 2:17 minutes later as she completed a through pass from
junior forward Sam Hellerman (Smithtown,
N.Y./Smithtown West).
The Seahawks (0-1-1) avoided the shutout in the 81st minute as
junior captain Bridget
McGovern (Wrentham, Mass./King Philip Regional)
corralled a loose ball at the near post and then sent a pass to the
far post where sophomore forward Tori Eskay
(Damascus, Md./Urbana) was waiting to tap the ball in at 80:56.
St. Mary's finished strong with four quality shots in the final
six minutes as senior defender Taylor
Colonna's (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) shot hit the
post and first-year midfielder Johanna Rambo
(Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) had her shot taken off the line by a
Bullet defender. The other two shots were denied by junior
goalie Allie Rivera (Wading River,
N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River).
The Seahawks outshot Gettysburg, 20-9, and held a 10-2 corner
kick margin.
Rivera finished the contest with eight saves
and her second win of the season.
