Box Score St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team dropped a 1-0 non-conference decision to Bridgewater (Va.) College on a cold, wet Sunday afternoon.
Bridgewater (5-5) scored the eventual game-winning goal on its second shot on goal. Junior midfielder Kelly Ryan (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) put the ball into play from the top of the circle and the driven ball was knocked around in the middle of the 16-yard circle before fellow midfielder Megan Gould (Fredericksburg, Va./Mountain View) deflected the ball just inside the near post.
The Eagles outshot St. Mary's, 11-3, and posted a 13-0 advantage in penalty corners. Junior forward Lauriann Parker (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) had all three shots for the Seahawks (4-6) while sophomore goalkeeper Ana Wash (Yorktown, Va./York) made three saves.
St. Mary's will look to get back on track on Saturday, October 8 when the Seahawks travel to Frostburg State University (3-9) for Capital Athletic Conference action at 4:00 pm.
