St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team opened up their Seventh Annual Seahawk Invitational with a pair of wins over Bridgewater (Va.) College and City College of New York Friday night to stretch the Seahawk win streak to three straight.

Senior middle blocker Gena Hlavinka (Gaithersburg, Md./T.S. Wootton) opened up the tournament with a season-best 19 kills and four block assists in leading St. Mary's (9-16) to a 3-1 win over Bridgewater (13-15).  After dropping the first set, 25-22, St. Mary's responded with 25-19, 25-20, and 25-17 victories.

Joining Hlavinka with double-digit kills were junior right-side hitter Shelby Mullennix (California, Md./Leonardtown) and sophomore outside hitter Michelle Klima (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial).  Mullennix contributed 14 kills while Klima recorded her second straight 11-kill effort along with five digs.

Defensively, four Seahawks notched double-figure digs as junior outside hitter Cecilia Blanc (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) led the way with 22 digs followed by junior outside hitter Jenn Rindone's (Crofton, Md./Spalding) 15.  Sophomore libero Bianca Livioco (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) tallied 11 digs while junior Dani Thorne (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) added her second double-double of the season on 19 assists and 10 digs.

St. Mary's did not need too much offensive power in its 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-7) shutout win against CCNY (8-25) as the Seahawks served up a season-best 13 aces and the CCNY Beavers posted a negative hitting percentage of .062 for the match.

Hlavinka and Blanc paced the Seahawk attack with seven kills apiece while Blanc matcher her career-best with five aces.  Sophomore setter Elaina Straub (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) collected her fourth double-double on team-bests of 12 assists and 14 digs.

The Seahawks will be back in action tomorrow as St. Mary's wraps up the Seahawk Invitational with its last regular-season Capital Athletic Conference match against Wesley College (8-25) at 1:00 pm followed by a non-conference contest against Lynchburg College (18-9) at 3:00 pm.
