Seahawk Women's Soccer Falls to Stevenson

St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team dropped their fourth consecutive contest as the Seahawks (4-4, 1-3 CAC) suffered a 3-0 setback to Stevenson University in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

The defending CAC tournament champion, Stevenson (8-3-2, 2-1-1 CAC) started the scoring early as sophomore forward Jamie Matlock (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland) found the back of the net in the 10th minute.  Senior forward Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) gave the Mustangs a 2-0 halftime lead as Eyler converted on sophomore midfielder Catherine Madden's (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) free kick.

Junior midfielder Kayla Curry (Timonium, Md./John Carroll) sealed the win for Stevenson with an insurance goal in the 56th minute.

St. Mary's attempted eight shots on the day but only put two of them on frame.  The Mustangs fired off 11 shots in the game and St. Mary's sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Wirtz (Parkton, Md./Hereford) made five saves.  Stevenson edged the Seahawks, 5-4, in corner kicks.

The Seahawks will be back in action on Friday, October 7 when St. Mary's welcomes Wesley College to Seahawk Stadium for league action at 4:00 pm.
