York (Pa.) Gets past Seahawk Men's Soccer

York, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback at the hands of York College of Pennsylvania in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.

After yielding a goal in the 6th minute, sophomore Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) and the Seahawk defense held York at the bay as the Spartans (4-5-3, 1-1-2 CAC) carried a 1-0 lead into the half.

St. Mary's (5-7, 1-3 CAC) continued its strong defensive stance in the second half but struggled to sustain an attack with just four shots in the final 45 minutes.  York notched its second goal of the day in the 83rd minute.

Brown finished the game with five saves as the Spartans outshot St. Mary's, 22-7, and tallied a 6-2 margin in corner kicks.

St. Mary's hopes to snap its four-game skid on Tuesday, October 11 when the Seahawks welcome the University of Mary Washington (5-4-2) to Seahawk Stadium for a Capital Athletic Conference match at 4:00 pm.
