Box Score Salisbury, Md. – Junior outside hitter Jenn Rindone (Crofton, Md./Spalding) and senior middle blocker Gena Hlavinka (Gaithersburg, Md./T.S. Wootton) combined for 15 kills as the St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback at Salisbury University Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action.
Rindone led the team with eight kills while Hlavinka added seven. Sophomore setter Elaina Straub (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) dished out 10 assists while sophomore libero Bianca Livioco (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) picked up six digs.
Salisbury (9-1, 2-0 CAC) jumped out to an early lead in the first game with a 10-2 run en route to a 25-9 victory. The Seahawks (2-7, 0-1 CAC) made the second set closer as the Sea Gulls led in the late stages of the game by only one before going on a 7-2 run to take the score from 18-17 to the final of 25-19. Salisbury allowed the Seahawks only seven points in the final 28 points of the third game as the Sea Gulls went on a 21-7 point tear to finish the match in victory.
The Seahawks will return to action on Saturday, September 17 as St. Mary's hosts Stevenson University and Pennsylvania State University, Altoona in a tri-match. The Seahawks will take on Stevenson in Capital Athletic Conference at 1:00 pm before facing Penn State Altoona at 5:00 pm.
