Frederick, Md. – Just one goal was all the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team needed to halt their three-game losing skid as the Seahawks picked up a 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference win over host Hood College Saturday afternoon.
Senior forward Mark Jaskolski (Gaithersburg, Md./Northwest) notched his team-leading third goal of the season late in the second half as first-year midfielder Stephen Hauschild (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) sent in a cross from the left side and Jaskolski finished at the back post for the eventual game-winner with 23 minutes remaining in regulation.
Sophomore goalkeeper Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) made three stops on 13 shots taken by Hood (3-3-1, 0-1-1 CAC) as Brown recorded his third shutout of the season.
St. Mary's (5-3, 1-1 CAC) took 23 shots while posting an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Seahawks will be back in action on Wednesday, September 28 when St. Mary's travels to Fayetteville, N.C. to take on Methodist University (4-1-2) in non-conference action at 4:00 pm.
