Box Score Fredericksburg, Va. – First-year midfielder Davis Holland (Cape Carteret, N.C./Leonardtown [Md.]) netted the lone goal for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team as the Seahawks suffered a 4-1 Capital Athletic Conference setback at the University of Mary Washington Wednesday afternoon.
Junior back Tommy Sangbouasy (Manassas, Va.) gave Mary Washington (10-5-1, 3-2 CAC) a 2-0 lead at 25:38 as Sangbouasy found the back of the net twice at 4:54 and 25:38.
Holland pulled St. Mary's (4-11, 1-4 CAC) within one just over a minute later with an unassisted goal for his third of the season. The Eagles headed into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.
Sangbouasy completed his hat trick nearly five minutes into the second stanza for a 3-1 Mary Washington lead at 49:24. First-year Josh Campbell (Catlett, Va.) wrapped up the scoring for the home team with his first tally of the season at 77:33.
Mary Washington posted a 14-7 shot advantage while edging the Seahawks 8-5 in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's School) turned away four shots while sophomore Tyler Back (Falls Church, Va.) and first-year Edwin Lazo-Romero (Fredericksburg, Va.) combined for four saves for the Eagles.
St. Mary's will be back in action on Saturday, October 20 when the Seahawks travel to the Eastern Shore to face Salisbury University (7-5-2, 2-1-1 CAC) in conference action at 2:00 pm.
