Box Score Baltimore, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback at the hands of Johns Hopkins University Wednesday night.
Johns Hopkins (2-2) owned a 1-0 first half lead as senior forward Nick White's (San Diego, Calif.) shot to the left post found the back of the net at 6:59. Junior goalkeeper Austin Brown's (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's School) three first half saves and a solid Seahawk defensive front held the Blue Jays at bay for the rest of the half.
Sophomore midfielder Kotaro Mitsuhashi (Ann Arbor, Mich.) scored consecutive goals in a 20-minute span to seal Hopkins' 3-0 non-conference victory. Mitsuhashi netted goals at 50:06 and 70:42.
The Blue Jays posted a 21-1 shot advantage as well as an 8-0 margin in corner kicks. First-year midfielder Jackson Ranheim (Florence, Italy/International School of Florence) fired off St. Mary's (2-4) only shot of the contest.
Brown ended the match with his three first half saves while sophomore goalkeeper Nate Ramsland (Catonsville, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) came in at the start of the second stanza and also registered three saves. Sophomore Nick Cerrone (Summit, N.J.) needed no saves in recording his second shutout of the season.
St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday, September 15 as the Seahawks open up Capital Athletic Conference action at Marymount University in Arlington, Va. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm.
