St. Mary's City, Md. – Sophomore forward Matt Braun's (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) second goal of the season was not enough for a St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team win as two late goals lifted Bridgewater (Va.) College to the victory in the opening round of the Seahawk Classic Saturday afternoon.

Junior defender Zach Hosler (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) netted the game-winning goal with just nine seconds remaining in regulation to give Bridgewater (2-1) its second win of the season.  Junior Patrick Thornton (Bowie, Md./Bowie) fed in a pass into the box from the right side towards Hosler, who sent in a rocket of a shot off of his back heel into the middle of the net.

St. Mary's (2-2) struck first when senior midfielder Frank VanGessel (Delmar, Del./Delmar) put the ball into play inside the box and Braun finished with a shot into the lower left corner at 7:23.

The 1-0 Seahawk lead stood through halftime and the majority of the second half as Bridgewater's equalizer did not come until the 79th minute.  Senior Kevin Gorman (Annapolis, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) found the back of the net at 78:56 after corralling a pass from junior forward Sawyer Janes (Waynesboro, Va./Waynesboro).

It was an even-keeled game as there was only a two-shot differential between the teams with Bridgewater taking 18 shots.  The Eagles owned a 9-5 margin in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) registered a career-high 11 stops in the loss while sophomores TJ Martin (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) and Kevin Morris (Westminster, Md./Westminster) split time in goal for Bridgewater, combining for six stops.

No. 12 Salisbury University notched a 5-0 shutout of Centenary (N.J.) College in Saturday's second game of the Classic.

St. Mary's will look to get back in the win column tomorrow when the Seahawks take on Centenary at 3:00 pm in the final game of the Classic.  Bridgewater will face Salisbury at 1:00 pm to kick off the final day of the Seahawk Classic.
