Salisbury, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team was once again led by a strong performance from senior goalkeeper Kelsey Wirtz (Parkton, Md./Hereford) Wednesday afternoon as Wirtz recorded a season-best 10 saves in a 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference loss at Salisbury University.

St. Mary's (5-8-3, 4-2-0 CAC) went into halftime tied at 0-0 as Wirtz denied five of the eight shots she faced in the first half. The Seahawk defense was also able to break up Salisbury's five corner kicks.

The Sea Gulls (8-5-3, 3-2-1 CAC) broke the stalemate at 53:48 as sophomore forward Victoria Luc (Pasadena, Md.) finished a cross from the right side off the foot of sophomore defender Heather Deamond (West Windsor, N.J.). That was the second goal of the season for Luc.

Sophomore forward Jess Konecke (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) led the Seahawks on the offensive end with three shots. Despite today's loss, St. Mary's still remains third in the conference standings with only two regular-season CAC games left.

Salisbury posted a 17-6 shot advantage as well as a 10-0 margin in corner kicks. Junior Michelle Conrad (Smithtown, N.Y.) and first-year Alesha Seifert (Easton, Pa.) split time in goal in combining for the team's 10th shutout of the season.

The Seahawks will look to rebound on Saturday, October 26th as they host CAC newcomer, Penn State Harrisburg, at 3:00 pm in Seahawk Stadium. Be sure to get out and support St. Mary's as the team will honor its seven seniors prior to the start of Saturday's games.
