Box Score St. Mary's City, Md. – The 2013 season came to a close for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team Wednesday afternoon, ending the season with a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference loss to league newcomer, Christopher Newport University.
The Seahawks completed this year's action with a 5-10-2 (2-6-0 CAC) record, posting a team 1.85 GAA and collecting six shutouts for the season.
Christopher Newport (12-5-1, 6-2-0 CAC) did all of its scoring in the first half as three different Captains found the back of the net. CNU outshot St. Mary's, 16-2, in the first 45 minutes while earning a 3-0 corner kick margin.
St. Mary's turned on the defensive pressure in the second half, holding the Captains scoreless and cutting their shot output in half. The Seahawks kept the conference's leading scorer, junior forward Jalon Brown (Yorktown, Va./Grafton), in check, limiting him to just three shots (1 SOG) and one assist for the game.
The Captains posted a 25-5 shot advantage and 6-1 corner kick edge for the game while goalkeepers Sean Killion (Crofton, Md./Arundel) and Nolan Mann (Lynchburg, Va./Holy Cross Regional) split time in goal for the team's eighth shutout.
Senior captain Austin Brown (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's School) finished out his career with a solid effort in goal, making six stops, including four saves in the second half.
