Box Score Middletown, Pa. – Four Seahawks scored in double digits as the No. 12 St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team posted a 67-60 Capital Athletic Conference road win over league newcomer, Penn State Harrisburg, Saturday afternoon.
Senior captain Brendan McFall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) led the way for the Seahawks with 15 points while fellow classmate Donn Hill (Aberdeen, Md./Bel Air) added 13 points and a team-best five rebounds. Fellow captain Nicholas LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) contributed 12 points, season-bests of five assists and four steals, and four boards.
St. Mary's (5-1, 2-0 CAC) dominated the Lions on the glass by a 30-18 margin and sophomore forward Troy Spurrier (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg) aided the effort with three defensive caroms and 10 points.
The Seahawks owned a 32-19 halftime advantage as McFall led all players at intermission with nine points on the virtue of three long-range shots. St. Mary's boasted a 20-10 rebounding margin and shot nearly 38% from the field, including 6-of-13 from downtown. Joey Farthing paced the Lions at the half with six points and four caroms.
Penn State Harrisburg (3-4, 1-1 CAC) roared back in the second stanza by putting together a 21-6 run over the course of nearly nine minutes to establish its first lead since 9:50 of the first half. The Seahawks regained the lead on a LaGuerre three-pointer at 9:26 and never looked back, building a 10-point lead three times in the final 2:26 of the game.
William Doyle tallied a game-high 20 points to lead the Lions while Farthing grabbed a game-best six boards and finished with eight points.
The Seahawks will put their four-game win streak to the test against the University of Mary Washington next Saturday, December 14th in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The CAC tilt is scheduled to start at 3:00 pm.
