Seahawk Field Hockey Dominates Eastern Mennonite

Box Score

Harrisonburg, Va. – First-year forward Brady Wolf (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) tied a St. Mary's College of Maryland single-game record with four goals Saturday afternoon, leading the Seahawks to the team's first shutout win of the season – a 5-0 non-conference victory at Eastern Mennonite University.

Wolf notched her first career hat trick with four goals on the day, making her just the fourth Seahawk in the program's 20-year history to find the back of the cage four times in a one game. She is the first person to do so since Amy Skrickus '08 accomplished the feat in 2005.

Today's win marks the first time that St. Mary's (6-2) has defeated Eastern Mennonite (1-8) in seven meetings. Four of the previous five contests were one-goal victories for the Royals. Today's win also extends the Seahawks' win streak to six.

Wolf started the scoring at 10:53 as she finished off a pass from first-year Carly Todd (Crisfield, Md./Crisfield) by putting it over senior goalkeeper Mary Beth Danaher (Matoaca, Va.). She followed that up with an unassisted goal at 18:29 as Wolf took Danaher one-on-one. The Seahawks went into halftime with a 3-0 lead as Wolf converted a penalty stroke at 23:10.

Wolf picked up where she left off at 48:32 in the second half, scoring off a broken penalty corner. First-year Alli Szymanski (Easton, Md./Easton) wrapped up the scoring for the Seahawks with her fourth tally of the season at 51:50.

St. Mary's posted a 15-6 shot advantage, including a 10-2 margin in the first half, as well as edging the Royals, 7-5 in penalty corners.

Junior goalkeeper Christy Bishop (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) made two saves in 60 minutes of action while fellow classmate Kelly Shuman (Columbia, Md./Atholton) had one in the final 10 minutes of the game. Danaher finished with six saves and five goals against in 58 minutes.

The Seahawks will be back in action on Wednesday, October 2nd when St. Mary's travels to Winchester, Virginia to take on Shenandoah University in a non-conference game at 4:00 pm.
