Bryn Mawr, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team won the consolation game of the Bryn Mawr College Tournament with a convincing 11-2 victory over Cedar Crest College Sunday morning, marking the Seahawks' first win of their 20th anniversary season.

Today's 11 goals by St. Mary's (1-2) is the second most in program history as the Seahawks were three shy of tying the single-game record of 14 set on October 19, 2000 against Trinity (D.C.) University. The team also tied for the third most points in a game with 27 today (11 goals, 5 assists).

St. Mary's will be back in action this Saturday, September 14th at 2:00 pm, hosting Bridgewater (Va.) College in its home-opener at Seahawk Stadium. Saturday's game will also mark the program's 300th game played since the team's inception in 1994.

First-year Alli Szymanski (Easton, Md./Easton) paced the Seahawks in today's win with a hat trick and an assist while sophomore forward Nina Collins (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) added two goals and one helper. First-year forward Brady Wolf (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) also found the back of the cage twice.

St. Mary's owned an 8-1 halftime advantage, outshooting the Cedar Crest Falcons (0-4) by a 34-1 margin and edging them in penalty corners, 5-3.

Junior goalkeepers Christy Bishop (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) and Kelly Shuman (Columbia, Md./Atholton) each played a half with Shuman making the only save.

St. Mary's finished the game by peppering Cedar Crest sophomore keeper Kaitlyn Brendlinger (Westmont, N.J.) with 47 shots and 11 corners. Brendlinger came away with 27 stops while her fellow Falcons picked up two defensive saves.
