St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team battled Wednesday night against tough Marymount (Va.) University but came up short, falling 3-2 in Capital Athletic Conference action.

The Seahawks (15-9, 4-4 CAC) found themselves in an 0-2 deficit before rallying back with two straight set wins to force a fifth and decisive set. Tonight's match marked the fifth consecutive five-setter between the two sides with the Saints winning all five.

"Tonight, we played well but let a few little things go at moments we couldn't afford. Marymount played well at the net with blocking which gave us fits all night. We have some things to work on going into this weekend," expressed first-year head coach Jeremy Sands.

Four Seahawks tallied double-digit kills as juniors Mandy Goodspeed (Columbia, Md./Atholton) and Autumn Fisher (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) paced the team with 13 kills each while senior Jenahye' Johnson (Randallstown, Md./Seton Keough) and first-year Brigid Morris (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) contributed 11 kills apiece.

St. Mary's had a fiery response as the Seahawks opened up the third with a 7-1 run and raced off to the 25-17 triumph, cutting their deficit to 2-1. Morris led the way with a set-best four kills.

The fourth game featured 10 tied scores and six lead changes but St. Mary's pulled out the 28-26 triumph to force the fifth and decisive set. Johnson and Fisher each had five kills to lift the Seahawks to the win. In the fifth, Mo. McAlpin put up five kills and a .500 hitting percentage in leading the Saints to the 15-11 set win for the match victory.

Graf wrapped up her team-leading ninth double-double on season-best 32 assists and 12 digs while this was Chao's second double on 21 helpers and 10 digs.
