Box Score Middletown, Pa. – The 2014 season came to a close Wednesday night for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team in the semifinals of the 2014 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. The sixth-seeded Seahawks succumbed to a 1-0 double overtime decision to No. 2 Penn State Harrisburg.
Tonight's loss ends St. Mary's campaign with a 10-10 (5-4 CAC) record for its first 10-win season since the Seahawks went 12-7-1 in 2005. For the fourth time in program history, the Seahawks have notched five conference wins.
Penn State Harrisburg (13-4-1) notched the game-winning goal at 103:46 off the foot of junior James Bilger (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) as Bilger's cross took an unlucky bounce off a Seahawk defender and into the goal.
First-year goalkeeper Zack Haussler (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) tallied a season-best nine saves in the Seahawks' final contest of the season while sophomore Brandon Hoover (Lancaster, Pa./Pequea Valley) picked up 10 stops to extend the Lions' unbeaten streak to five and record the team's eighth shutout.
St. Mary's finished with a 19-12 shot advantage for the game while the Lions posted an 8-5 margin in corner kicks.
