Sophomore forward Carly Todd (Crisfield, Md./Crisfield) notched the first goal of the second half at 38:56 to give St. Mary's a 3-0 lead as Wolf assisted on the play.

Roanoke (0-1) avoided the shutout as first-year midfielder Rebecca Schmidt (White Hall, Md./Hereford) tallied an unassisted goal at 42:41. Edwards picked up her second at 47:00 following a pass from junior forward Nina Collins (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) on a penalty corner.

First-year forward Kelsey Palmisano (West Caldwell, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) cut the deficit to 4-2 with an unassisted goal of her own at 49:49.

Edwards and Wolf wrapped up the scoring for the Seahawks in the last 10 minutes of the game as midfielders Rachel Natoli (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) and Ally Dahlen (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) assisted on the goals.

St. Mary's dominated with a 23-9 shot advantage and a 13-6 margin in penalty corners while senior captain Christy Bishop (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) made five stops in 57 minutes and fellow classmate Kelly Shuman (Columbia, Md./Atholton) finished out the game.

Senior goalkeeper Candice Fisher (Baltimore, Md./Garrison Forest School) had 11 saves for Roanoke in its season-opening loss.
