Fredericksburg, Va. – Senior forward Carly Todd (Crisfield, Md./Crisfield) and sophomore midfielder Mollie Belson (Columbia, Md./Atholton) each found the back of the cage Saturday afternoon but the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team dropped their season opener, 4-2, to Dickinson College. The contest was played at the University of Mary Washington.

How It Happened
- Dickinson owned a 2-0 halftime lead as sophomore forward Chelsea Kramer (New Vernon, N.J./Morristown Beard) scored twice in the first 14 minutes. Kramer opened up the scoring at 10:06, redirecting a pass from the top of the circle, and then struck again at 14:23.
- Senior forward Catherine Perlmutter (Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy) picked up an unassisted goal at 38:18 off the goalkeeper's pads to stretch the lead to 3-0.
- The Red Devils went up 4-0 at 66:07 when junior forward Amber Dey (Flemington, N.J./South Hunterdon) finished off a pass from first-year Mia Scott (Mount Laurel, Md./Holy Cross).
- St. Mary's avoided the shutout with two scores in the final four minutes of the contest.
- Belson tallied her first of the season just four seconds after Dickinson's final goal.
- Todd notched her seventh career goal at 69:05 to cut the lead in half.
For the Seahawks (0-1)
- Scorers: Belson (1 goal); Todd (1 goal).
- Junior captain Megan Moore (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) (1 defensive save).
- Goalkeeper: Junior Alyssa Thompson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) (career-best 12 saves, 4 goals allowed, 70:00).
- St. Mary's fired off nine shots in the contest and earned six penalty corners.
For Dickinson (1-1)
- Scorers: Kramer (2 goals); Dey (1 goal); Perlmutter (1 goal); Taylor Bednar (1 assist); Kim Monteferante (1 assist); Scott (1 assist).
- Monteferante (1 defensive save).
- Goalkeeper: Freddie Bancroft (3 saves, 2 goals allowed, 70:00).
- Dickinson finished the game with 21 shots and 16 penalty corners.

- Today marks first-time collegiate head coach Jessica Seay's coaching debut.
- Today's matchup was the first-ever meeting between St. Mary's and Dickinson.
