York, Pa. – Senior forward Alessandro Burlew (Mount Airy, Md./Good Counsel) netted his first goal of the season Wednesday night but the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to York College of Pennsylvania in the regular-season finale.
Despite the loss, St. Mary's finished second in the Capital Athletic Conference standings and locked up the No. 2 seed in the 2017 CAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Seahawks are guaranteed a first-round bye and will host the winner of Frostburg State University-University of Mary Washington in the semifinals on Wednesday, November 1.

How It Happened
- Burlew handed St. Mary's a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute as he corralled a through ball from junior captain Juwan Kearson (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) and placed it in the left corner.
- The two sides headed into halftime knotted at 1-1 when Zion Friday tapped in a cross from Aiden Wisley at 35:05.
- Four minutes into the second half, York staked its first lead of the contest as Danny Morgan found the back of the net with an unassisted goal.
- The Spartans sealed the deal in the 79th minute when Barak Amige headed in Nathan Bilbie's corner kick.
For the Seahawks (11-6-0, 7-2-0 CAC)
- Scorers: Burlew (1 goal); Kearson (1 assist)
- Goalkeeper: Zack Haussler (3 saves, 3 goals allowed, 90:00)
- St. Mary's claimed 12 shots (five on goal) and four second-half corner kicks.
For York (7-8-2, 5-3-1 CAC)
- Scorers: Friday (1 goal); Morgan (1 goal); Amige (1 goal); Wisley (1 assist); Bilbie (1 assist)
- Goalkeeper: Billy Bridegum (4 saves, 1 goal allowed, 90:00)
- The Spartans put up 11 shots (six on goal) and earned three corners in the second half.
