St. Mary's City, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team exploded for season-bests of five goals and 11 points Saturday afternoon in a 5-0 blanking of Neumann University in non-conference play. This is the Seahawks second shutout win of the season.
Junior forward Courtney Mellon (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana) led the way with her first career hat trick as Mellon picked up a career-best three goals while junior captain Kara Feidelseit (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) added a career-high three points on a goal and an assist.

How It Happened
- The Seahawks staked a 2-0 at 27:11 behind Mellon's first two goals of the day, putting back a rebound on the first goal and deflecting Feidelseit's cross from the right side for the second.
- St. Mary's outshot the Knights, 13-1, in the first half and boasted a two-goal halftime lead.
- Junior midfielder Mollie Belson (Columbia, Md./Atholton) joined the action almost five minutes into the second half as Belson notched her first tally of the season, firing in a loose ball from about six yards.
- Feidelseit tallied her second career goal at 42:18 by finishing off her own rebound.
- Mellon rounded out the scoring with her third as she flicked in her own rebound as well at 48:50.

- First-year midfielder Abbie Busch (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) recorded her first career defensive save.
- St. Mary's finished the game with 25 shots (16 on goal) and seven penalty corners.

- Goalkeepers: Mary Miller (6 saves, 2 goals allowed, 35:00); Lizzie Yu (4 saves, 3 goals allowed, 35:00)
- Skyler Lemma registered a defensive save for the Knights.
- NU posted three second-half shots for four total (three on goal) and a corner in the second half.
