Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland Volleyball (0-2, 0-0) team began their 2019-20 campaign Friday afternoon as they took on Pitt-Bradford (1-1, 0-0) and later would face host, Virginia Wesleyan College (2-0, 0-0) in the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament.

The first set was tight and was tied as late as 16-16 and eventually trailing 18-19 going deeper into the set. Pitt-Bradford ultimately pulled away in the final five points winning 25-20.

The Seahawks cruised to a 25-14 win in the third set but unfortunately would drop the fourth and the match to Pitt-Bradford.

Senior Emily Benedict led the Seahawks with sixteen total digs.

Katie Agate was second on the team in digs during the match with ten total.

Junior Ellyse Sutliff had ten kills against Pitt-Bradford which led the team.

First year Alessia Regazzoni was second on the team with seven total kills.

The Seahawks would be in the lead in the third set with the score 10-9 but the Marlins went on an eight point streak to take the lead to 17-10 before Regazzoni ended the run with a kill. Virginia Wesleyan never looked back and would go on to take the set and the match.

Sutliff and Regazzoni once again led the team in kills as Sutliff had eight and Regazzoni came up with six.

Sutliff also was tied for the lead in digs with eight and Benedict also had eight.
