Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - After a day of celebrating the newly dedicated Jamie L. Roberts Stadium, St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer team (2-2) found success tonight (Sept. 7) in their match against Stevenson University (1-2).

How it Happened

The first half was an even match-up with the Mustangs recording six shots and the Seahawks recording seven. Both teams played with athleticism, leading to a score of 0-0 at the end of the first half. Defensively, Kaitlyn Steigner used her height to break up numerous Stevenson passes inside the box.

In the 78th minute of the game, sophomore forward, Megan Tazza found the back of the net off of a leading pass from sophomore midfielder Ashley Yurich. Six minutes later the Mustangs answered back with a goal that was inches out of first-year goalkeeper Audra Haines' reach in the bottom right corner of the goal. Defenders, Steigner and Ines Garofolo made extremely important defensive plays tonight which attributed to the win.

Not even a full minute after Stevenson's lone goal, a foul inside the box on Tazza gave junior midfielder, Emmey German a penalty kick opportunity. Her shot was perfectly placed in the top left corner of the goal, which secured the Seahawks' victory.
