The Saint Mary's College of Maryland Volleyball traveled to Lancaster, PA Saturday to compete in their third straight tri-match meeting. This was the last regular season matchup for the Seahawks and would determine St. Mary's seed for playoffs . St. Mary's faced off against Lancaster Bible first at 11am, followed by Wells at 1pm. Today's tri-match mirrored the last two tri-matches the Seahawks participated in as they split today's competition again. The win secured today landed the Seahawks a spot to compete in the Semifinals for the United East Championship.

The Seahawks came out strong in the first set against Lancaster Bible and points went back and forth. Neither team was able to pull away for the first few rallies until Lancaster got ahold of the ball and went on a six point streak that gave them the edge over the Seahawks. This lead would carry Lancaster Bible through the first set for the win (18-25). Set two played similarly to the first; both teams appeared evenly matched until Lancaster caught the Seahawks on their heels and took the second set (17-25). St. Mary's was ready to turn the tables and make a comeback in this third set. They started out on top and held Lancaster Bible at bay, but it wasn't enough. Lancaster was able to push back and overcome the Seahawks (19-25) for a three set upset.

After facing a tough loss in their first match, the Seahawks regrouped and were determined to take home a conference win today. The first set against Wells was similar to that against Lancaster. The conference foes were evenly matched and the Seahawks had to dig deep to gain the advantage over Wells. All their hard work paid off as the Seahawks were able to pull away and take the first set (25-20). Gaining momentum after winning the first set, the Seahawks kept the energy rolling and held Wells to a (20-10) advantage for the duration of the set. The Seahawks gave up one five point streak to Wells but wouldn't allow more than that as St. Mary's secured the second set (25-17). The Seahawks were ready to end this match quickly and gave everything they had left in this third set. After an amazing seven point streak, the Seahawks had this game in the bag and secured a conference win (25-18) to close out their regular season.

After securing a conference win the Seahawks finish conference play 4-4 and earn a spot in semi final competition. St. Mary's will play on Nov.5th but game time, opponent and location is still to be determined.
