ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team put up a commanding victory Saturday afternoon, flying past Penn College in United East Conference action. St. Mary's College (9-5, 8-0 UEC) tallied an 86-53 triumph over the visiting Wildcats (4-13, 4-6 UEC) for its seventh consecutive win, clinching the season series after notching a 68-39 victory at Penn College on December 4.
 
How It Happened

• It was a tight first half, featuring six lead changes and three tied scores in the first 13-plus minutes of the game.
• After Rees Watkins knotted the game for the final time at 25-25 with 6:49 left in the half, St. Mary's College outscored the Wildcats, 16-3, the rest of the way to claim a 41-28 halftime lead. First-year forward Isaiah Eggleston (Rocky Mount, Va./Carlisle School) paced the Seahawks in the run with six points.
• Corey Blackwell hit a three-point shot within the first minute of the second half to trim the deficit to 12 but St. Mary's College ran away with the game after that, shooting 51.5-percent from the field to lead by as many as 37 points at the 4:22-minute mark of the game.

• This is the most points scored by St. Mary's College this season.
• The Seahawks also tallied season-bests of 22 assists and 19 steals as senior guard Seth Jones (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and junior guard Daryn Alexander (Twinbrook, Md./Richard Montgomery) led the way with a career-best eight assists and a career-high seven steals, respectively.
• SMCM shot 45.1-percent from the field, including draining a season-best 12 three-point field goals for the second time this season.
• Alexander also led a contingent of four Seahawks in double-digit scoring as he scored a game-best 14 with a pair triples plus seven rebounds and three assists.
• First-year guard Duane Mason, Jr. (Temple Hills, Md./Potomac) and senior forward Cameron Rucker (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) each contributed 13 points while first-year forward Eggleston chipped in 11.
• First-year forward Naz Fisher (Washington, D.C./Washington Latin) had himself a game on the glass, helping the Seahawks post a +13 rebounding margin with a career-best 14 boards.
• Penn College earned its second straight loss as the Wildcats were led by Corey Blackwell and Watkins, who each scored nine points. PCT shot 17.4-percent from downtown and was sub-50 percent at the free throw line (13-28).
