St. Mary’s College Men’s Soccer Stymied on Senior Night

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – In their second matchup of the season with a Top 25 opponent, the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team came up short on Senior Night. St. Mary's College (9-2-4) dropped a hard-fought 1-0 non-conference decision to No. 19 Christopher Newport University Saturday evening (Oct. 15). The loss halted the Seahawks' 12-game unbeaten streak (9-0-3).

Prior to the start of the game, St. Mary's recognized its nine seniors – captain Matt Barlow (Middletown, Md./Middletown), Liam DeLone-Bellsey (Takoma Park, Md./Montgomery Blair), Andrew Durst (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown), Jack Eskay (Damascus, Md./Urbana), captain Nahom Fisseha (Laurel, Md./Carroll), Zack Glime (Annapolis, Md./Key), Evan Marx (Laurel, Md./Meade), Jorge Sanchez (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson), and Thomas Williamson (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) – for their years of dedication and leadership.

  • The Seahawks' best opportunity of the night came in the 72nd minute when Glime headed a free kick by junior forward Jason Caro (Lanham, Md./Good Counsel) that was tipped over the crossbar by Ethan Larson to keep St. Mary's off the scoreboard.
