ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Sophomore guard
Micah Henry (Laurel, Md./Hammond) poured in a career-high 22 points in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team to a home-opening victory Saturday night (Nov. 12). St. Mary's College (1-0) picked up an 89-65 non-conference win over Brooklyn College (1-2) in the opening game of the Dan Greene and Wayne Cook Memorial Invitational.
The Seahawks advance to Sunday's championship game and will face Ferrum College (1-1), an 82-64 winner over the University of Valley Forge, at 3:00 p.m. Brooklyn and Valley Forge will face each other in the consolation game at 1:00 p.m.
How It Happened
- St. Mary's dominated the first 20 minutes, using a shooting percentage of 62.1-percent to build a double-digit lead for almost the entirety of the first half.
- Brooklyn staked a brief 5-3 lead at 17:29 on a jumper by Zuric Harvey before the Seahawks closed out the opening frame with a 47-28 run to own a 50-33 halftime lead.
- The Bulldogs came out firing in the second stanza as the visitors put together a 20-11 run to close the gap to 61-53 with 13:20 remaining in the game.
- St. Mary's responded with a big run (28-12) of its own to rebuild a double-digit margin, including leading by 20-plus points in the final six and a half minutes.

- Along with his career-high 22 points, Henry also connected on a career-best nine field goals made, grabbed a career-high seven rebounds, and notched a career-best two steals.
- Senior guard Jordan Goodwin (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) contributed 13 points on 7-of-10 free throw shooting plus six boards.
- Senior guard Daryn Alexander (Twinbrook, Md./Richard Montgomery) and sophomore forward Naz Fisher (Washington, D.C./Washington Latin) each tallied 12 points. This was a career effort for Fisher as he connected on a career-best five field goals.
- Junior forward Gary Grant (Washington, D.C./Thomas Stone [Md.]) rounded out the five double-digit scorers as Grant added 10 points and six caroms.
- In his collegiate debut, first-year forward JD Salo (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) led the Seahawks with nine rebounds.
- St. Mary's finished the game shooting 54.1-percent (33-61) from the field.
- The Seahawks also went 22-for-36 (61.1%) from the charity stripe.
Brooklyn Game Notes
- Kayin Olajide and Malik Dale paced the Bulldogs with 12 points each while Olajide hauled in a team-best four rebounds.
