Brown Scores 100th Career Goal as Seahawks Men’s Lacrosse Falls Short at No. 1 Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Senior attackman Jude Brown (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) tallied his 100th career goal Monday night as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team held their own against Division III's top team, Salisbury University. St. Mary's College (9-3) battled but came up short in a 19-14 loss to No. 1 Salisbury (13-0).
 
Brown picked up his 100th career goal with his fourth and final score of the night, having entered tonight's game with 96. He is now 34 goals away from breaking the all-time goals record of 133 held by St. Mary's College Athletics Hall of Famer, Dave Mueller '06.
 
How It Happened
  • Salisbury jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Seahawks cut the lead in half with goals from first-year attackman Aiden Doyle (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and junior midfielder PJ Fenchak (Lutherville, Md./Towson) with 6:46 remaining in the first frame. The Sea Gulls headed into the second period with a three-goal cushion following a last second goal from Isaac Thrasher.
  • The Sea Gulls edged St. Mary's, 6-5, in the second quarter to go into halftime with an 11-7 advantage. Brown notched three goals and two assists to lead the Seahawks in the first half.
  • Salisbury opened an eight-goal gap with four consecutive goals for a 16-8 lead with 6:28 left in the third stanza. Brown scored the next goal for the 100th of his career.
  • St. Mary's won the fourth period, 4-1, including tallying the final three goals of the contest to pull within 19-14 with less than four minutes to go in the game.
