READING, Pa. – Despite having five players score in double digits, the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team saw their two-game win streak halted Friday night (Jan. 20). St. Mary's College (8-7, 3-3 United East) came up a bucket short against United East Conference foe, Penn State Berks (4-9, 2-4 United East), 78-76.
How It Happened
- It was a tight first half, featuring seven lead changes and three tied scores.
- Back-to-back two-point buckets by first-year guard Micah Henry (Laurel, Md./Hammond) knotted the game twice at 27-27 and again at 29-29 before the Seahawks put together a 10-5 run capped by a layup by senior guard Jordan Goodwin (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) to lead by five with just over two minutes left in the half.
- With 42 seconds to go, a Henry layup kept St. Mary's in front, 41-37, before consecutive three-pointers by Jeff Lorah sent host Penn State Berks into halftime with a 43-41 edge.
- The second half was a repeat of the first stanza with the teams trading leads six times and neither side leading by more than six points at any given point.
- Darik Tannis-Harriet gave the Nittany Lions a 58-57 margin halfway through the frame before St. Mary's used an 11-5 spurt to gain a 68-63 advantage with 5:31 remaining in the game as senior guard Daryn Alexander (Twinbrook, Md./Richard Montgomery) scored five.
- Jumpers by Henry and Alexander maintained the Seahawk lead at four before another Lorah triple capped a 7-0 run, helping Berks regain the lead, 75-72, with 1:51 on the clock.
- A layup by Alexander pulled the visitors within 78-76 with 17 ticks to go.
- St. Mary's attempted a pair of three-point shots in the final seven seconds with the second one blocked by Josh Mingledolph at the one-second mark.

- Lorah poured in a game-high 21 points as he connected on 5-of-7 from behind the three-point arc. He also grabbed a team-best seven caroms.
