Morrisville, NY-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Basketball Team (5-5) traveled to New York to take on United East Conference Opponent Morrisville State (5-5) in their first game of the New Year. The Seahawks fell by a final score of 83-68.

The Seahawks trailed the Mustangs after the first period of play by a score of 22-14. Sam Blaylock got the Seahawks on the board in the early going, converting on her first three pointer of the game. Karon Williams also contributed a three pointer, as well as a couple of free throws in the quarter.

Karon Williams and Sam Blaylock continued to be the main catalysts on offense to begin the second quarter, trimming the Mustang lead to seven. As the period went on, the Mustang maintained a double digit lead, but Skylar Kaplan was able to keep the Seahawks in striking distance by knocking down a long ball late in first half. St. Mary's continued to battle into the second half and even trimmed the Mustang lead to single digits mid way through the third period after back to back three pointers by Karon Williams and Sam Blaylock. St. Mary's trailed Morrisville State by just seven going into the final period of play. Blaylock and Williams continued to make big shots to keep the Seahawks within striking distance. Despite a strong effort by the St. Mary's squad, the Seahawks came up short in the fourth quarter and ended up falling to the Mustangs, 83-68.
