Box Score Stevenson, MD- The St. Mary's Volleyball team hit the road this Thursday for a nonconference match against the Mustangs of Stevenson University. The Seahawks fell to the Mustangs in four sets.

How it Happened

The Seahawks started set one of the match by immediately the Mustang's first point with a kill by Alayna Sievert. However, the Mustangs went on a four-point streak that was finally interrupted with a kill by Grace Caudell (6-2). The Mustangs continued to advance on the Seahawks, creating a 10 point gap (12-2). While the Seahawks fought hard, they were unable to recover and fell in the first set 25-8.

The second set proved to be a different story for the Seahawks. The Seahawks immediately took a three-point lead with a kill by Grace Caudell and a service ace by Alayna Sievert. The Seahawks continued to advance and create a ten-point lead (12-2) on the Mustangs. The Mustangs slowly started to recover and close the gap, eventually tying the match 23-23. However, a kill and an ace by Meghan Stevens sealed the second set win.

Alayna Sievert notched the first point of the third set with a service ace. However, the Mustangs were quick to respond and quickly created a five-point gap (7-2). While the Seahawks fought hard, the Mustangs took the third set 25-13.

Julia Bobrowski started the fourth set off strong with a kill, and Alayna Sievert followed her lead with a service ace (3-0). The Mustangs were not phased by the early effort of the Seahawks. The Mustangs went on a six-point streak (6-3) and slowly but surely created a large gap between them and the Seahawks (15-9). The Seahawks were unable to close the gap and fell in the fourth and final set 25-12.

On Saturday, October 14th the St. Mary's Volleyball will host the SMCM Tri-Match at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics and Recreation Center Arena. The SMCM Tri-Match features Penn State Abington and Hollins University.
