How It Happened
-
The Seahawks wasted no time in getting to work, outscoring the Mustangs 21-11 over the opening 10 minutes. Karon Williams and Rachel Manning got St. Mary's out to a 7-0 lead thanks in large part to the outside shooting of Williams. The Seahawks would go on another run in the quarter, this one being a 6-0 run that saw Karon Williams continue to be a presence on offense, but also featured Tray Mobray asserting herself and making plays. Sam Blaylock put the finishing touches on a great quarter by cashing in on a jumper in the final seconds.
-
Karon Williams got the scoring started in the second period, but after that point, the Mustang defense tightened up and held the Seahawk offense at bay. Morrisvile went on a run that erased the deficit, as they took their first lead of the game at the four minute mark of the second quarter. St. Mary's ended the half on a high note and re-took the lead before the break thanks to four points from Karon Williams and Stephanie Howell. The Seahawks led 27-26 going into the locker room.Â

Each team went shot for shot over the first five minutes of the new half. The lead changed six times during that stretch and no team could pull away from the other. Moments after the Mustangs finally made it a two possession game, Karon Williams knocked down a triple that cut the Morrisville lead back to one. The Mustangs were able to answer that with a three pointer of their own. The Seahawks trailed by four after three quarters.Â
-
St. Mary's knotted the game at 41 thanks to four straight points from Karon Williams to begin the final period. From that point forward, the Seahawks found themselves in foul trouble and the Mustangs made the most of their opportunities, building a nine point lead primarily through the charity stripe. Despite the adversity, the Seahawks would not go away. Sam Blaylock netted back to back three pointers to get it back to a one possession game. Despite the strong effort, that's as close as the Seahawks got to the Mustangs for the remainder of the game. The Mustangs took it, 57-47.Â
