Palmade Takes Down Ranked Opponent as Seahawks Fall to Sea Gulls

St. Mary's City, MD. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland Men's Tennis team took on the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University on their home courts. The Seahawks fell to the Sea Gulls 7-2. 

How It Happened:

Doubles

  • The duo of Stephen Alam and Boris Palmade fought hard in the number one doubles spot. They, unfortunately, fell to the Sea Gulls 8-6.

  • The Seahawks lost all three of their doubles matches.

Singles

  • Boris Palmade dominated the number one singles spot, matching up with Gianluca Beaujon, who is currently ranked #23 in the Atlantic South Region. Palmade dominated and won in two sets, winning 6-1, and 6-3. 

  • Max Esztergomi battled hard in the number six singles spot. He initially tied with Salisbury's Jacob Berg in the first set, but came out on top, 7-6 (5). The battle continued as Esztergomi fell in the second set. However, he brought the point home for the Seahawks by winning the third and final set 10-6. 

Up Next for the Seahawks

The Seahawks will be back in action this Saturday, April 1 as they travel to Lancaster Bible in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for their first United East Conference matchup.
