Chestertown, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (2-3) traveled to in-state rival Washington College (3-5) for a Sunday Double Header. The Shoreman were able to come out on top in game one, 10-2, but the Seahawks rallied in a seven inning game two, winning by a final score of 8-5.
How It Happened (Game 1)

The Shoreman held a 2-0 advantage after the first three innings of game one. The Seahawks managed to get their first hits of the afternoon in the top of the third inning and threatened to level the score after Cole Tarleton and Chase Odell got into scoring position. Unfortunately for St. Mary's, the two runners were left stranded and Washington College kept their 2-0 lead going into the fourth inning.Â

Washington College extended their lead to four before the Seahawks were finally able to get on the board in the top of the sixth inning. Ian Walters was able to send home George Berbakos on an RBI double to give the Seahawks their first tally of the afternoon.Â

Dan Weeden was able to score on a passed ball in the top of the eighth inning to get the Seahawks back to within three of the Shoreman, making it a 5-2 ball game with two innings left to play. Washington College would go on to have a five run eighth inning and take game one of the doubleheader by a final score of 10-2. Â

The Seahawks and Shoreman were knotted at one after the first three innings of game two. Washington College took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Seahawks responded in the top of the third when Ian Adams crossed home plate on a wild pitch. Adams was able to get in scoring position earlier in the inning after he stole second base.Â

Washington College took a 3-1 lead after a two run fourth inning, but the Seahawks would answer back with a four run fifth inning of their own. Chase Odell got things started on a single to center field before Cole Tarleton and Dan Weeden were both hit by pitches to load the bases. The Shoreman would go on to walk George Berbakos with the bases loaded to bring a runner home. The next at bat, Cole Tarleton would score on a wild pitch to tie the game up. The momentum would continue for the Seahawks squad when Garrett Pullium singled to right field to bring home two more St. Mary's base runners and give them their first lead of the day.

The Shoreman would go on to tie the game in the top of the sixth with both teams stuck at five runs. Just when you thought the game would be going to extra innings, Garrett Pullium, Myles Pittman, and Garrett Pullium came in clutch and each registered an RBI in the inning to give St. Mary's a three run lead. The Seahawks would go on to hold the Shoreman scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning and take game two, 8-5.Â
