St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (6-12) hosted the Nittany Lions of Penn State Harrisburg (21-5) for a weekend United East Conference Doubleheader (Apr. 8). The Seahawks dropped both games by a final score of 6-2, the first being a seven inning contest.
How It Happened (Game 1)

The Seahawks and Nittany Lions were knotted at one a piece after the first inning of play. Chase O'Dell got St. Mary's on the board after reaching home on an error from the second baseman, O'Dell would get walked earlier in the inning and then steal second base to get into scoring position. Penn State Harrisburg would add to their lead over the next several innings to take a 3-1 lead into the fifth.Â

The Nittany Lions would continue to establish a lead, taking a 6-1 lead into the top of the sixth inning. St. Mary's would get to work in the bottom of the sixth to chip away at the Nittany Lion lead. Cole Tarleton would reach base on a single and advance all the way to third base on back to back wild pitches, Tarleton would eventually score on another wild pitch a few at bats later. St. Mary's loaded the bases with two outs, but couldn't get another runner home, keeping just two runs on the board. The Seahawks could not get a rally going in the bottom of the seventh and would fall 6-2 in their first game of the day.

St. Mary's would score the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Trevor Smith would reach first on a single and later advance to second after a sacrifice bunt from Garrett Pullium. Adrian Auber delivered an RBI double to send home Smith from second to give the Seahawks a 1-0 advantage.Â

The Nittany Lions would respond with a 5 run fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead. In the next half inning, the Seahawks would chip into the newly acquired Nittany Lion lead thanks to a Mitchell Fradkin RBI single. George Berbakos would score from second after reaching base on a double earlier on in the inning. The Nittany Lions led 5-2 going into the final stretch of the game.Â

Penn State Harrisburg would add one more additional insurance run to take a 6-2 lead in the sixth inning. The Seahawks could not get much going offensively in the later innings and would finish the game trailing 6-2 after the final out.Â
