Seahawks Baseball Concludes Regular Season with a Sweep Against Gallaudet

St. Mary's City, MD-- The St. Mary's College of Maryland Baseball Team (11-17) hosted the Gallaudet University Bison (7-31) to conclude the regular season in a United East Conference Doubleheader. The Seahawks won both games against the Bison, both by a score of 13-0. 

How It Happened (Game 1)

  • The Seahawks led 10-0 after the first three innings of play. George Berbakos got things started for the Seahawks with an RBI triple that sent home two base runners in the top of the first inning. Chase O'Dell added to the Seahawks tally in the bottom of the second with an RBI single to left center field. The third inning proved to be the most productive for the Seahawks.Trevor Smith delivered an RBI single moments before Ian Walters converted on a triple to send yet another base runner home. George Berbakos and Cole Tarleton would each contribute an RBI single over the course of the third inning, while O'Dell contributed yet another RBI on a fielder's choice. 

  • The Seahawks remaining offense would be used in the the fifth inning where they saw three more runners reach home to take a 13-0 lead. Chase O'Dell continued his hot streak at the plate with an RBI double, which led to a Cole Tarleton ground out to send another Seahawk home. 

  • The Sehawks would finish the game with a 13-0 win.

How It Happened (Game 2)

  • The Seahawks and Bison played a shortened six inning game in the second leg of the doubleheader. 

  • Briand Sanders made sure the Seahawks kept their momentum going from the first game with an RBI single that sent two runners home in the bottom of the first inning. Gavin Wathen added the lone run for the Seahawks in the second inning off an RBI single to extend the Seahawk lead to four.

  • The third inning was a busy one for the Seahawks, as Gavin Wathen kept his impressive plate performance going with a base clearing RBI double to add three more runs to the Seahawks count. Chase O'Dell and Cole Tarleton would each add an RBI in the inning as well. 

  • St. Mary's added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, which proved to be enough for the Seahawks to hold on and come out victorious. Chase O'Dell and Cole Tarleton both reached base in the inning, resulting in two unearned runs for the Seahawks. 

  • The Seahawks would come out on top 13-0 in game two.
