St. Mary's City, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (0-1) kicked off their 2023 campaign by welcoming the Red Devils of Dickinson College (1-0) for the first day of the Annual Seahawk Classic. The Seahawks fell to the visiting Red Devils, 5-0.  

How it Happened

• Dickinson held a 1-0 lead after the first half of action at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium. Emma Cooney gave the Red Devils their first goal of the season, striking a ball into the bottom left hand corner about half way through the opening 45 minutes of play.

• Ella Raines paced the Seahawks in first half shots with two. Raines gave the Seahawks their best scoring opportunity in the 26th minute, but saw her center high shot get saved by Dickinson's Sophia Kavulich.

• The Red Devils out shot the Seahawks 12-3 in the first 45 minutes of play.

• Dickinson extended their lead to two just five minutes into the half after a nice play by Ava Prisco. 

• The Red Devils' Bridget Merkel and Becca Schulman found the back of the net just 6 minutes apart to help grow their lead to four. 

• Isra Khan would put the finishing touches on a 5-0 victory for the Red Devils with a goal in the 71st minute. 

• Megan Stambaugh nearly got the Seahawks on the board in the 80th minute with a nice individual effort, but saw her shot turned away by Red Devil Goalie Elizabeth Allen. 

Inside the Box Score

• Kylie Wells finished with a game high 10 saves.
