ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore forwards
Emma Watkins (Frederick, Md./Linganore) and
Brenna Ziegler (Newark, Del./Newark Charter) helped the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team return to the win column Wednesday night. St. Mary's College (3-1) recorded its second shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Randolph-Macon College (2-3).
How It Happened
- Following a scoreless first quarter in which St. Mary's outshot the hosts, 3-0, Watkins put the Seahawks on the scoreboard at 25:29 with her first goal of the season.
- Ziegler would double the Seahawk lead less than two minutes later as she found the back of the cage with her team-best third goal of the season.
- The final 30 minutes witnessed three shots between the sides and just one Randolph-Macon penalty corner.
