How it Happened
-
The Seahawks and the Knights went up head to head in the first match of the day. The first set was extremely close, with no team getting more than a three point lead at any time. However, the Knights snuck away with the first set win of the day 25-22. The Seahawks initially kept up the same intensity in the second set against the Knights, but stumbled at the tenth point. The Knights created an eight point gap and the Seahawks were unable to recover, losing 25 - 17. The third and final match was swiftly taken by the Knights as they started off with a nine point lead against the Seahawks. While the Seahawks fought back, they unfortunately lost the third and final match 25-17.

The Seahawks bounced back for their next match against the Royals of Regent University. The first set was neck and neck until the Seahawks went on a six-point scoring streak to create an 18-10 gap. The Seahawks sealed their first set win with a kill by Meghan Stevens (Westminster, MD). This energy carried over into the second set which the Seahawks started with a six-point scoring streak. While the Royals attempted to stay in it, the Seahawks were relentless with kills by Jillian Zukley (Severna Park, MD) and Alayna Sievert (Lusby, MD). The Seahawks took the second set 25-17. The third set proved to be tougher for the Seahawks, as the Royals refused to give up. While the Seahawks had an early lead, the Royals closed the gap to 16- 15 forcing the Seahawks head coach, Alexis Calloway, to call a time out. Calloway's timeout enabled the Seahawks to regroup, finish strong, and come out with a third set win 25-18.
