Box Score Frederick, MD. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (0-2-1) made their first road trip of the 2023 season, traveling to Hood College (2-1) for an in-state match-up. The Seahawks ultimately fell to the Blazers by a final score of 1-0. Â
How it Happened

Hood registered the first goal of the game just 15 minutes into the first half. Ava Swartz found the back of the net off of an Adrianna Esbobar assist.Â

The Seahawks had two great opportunities to tie up the game going into the halftime locker room. Ella Raines had a chance to even the game up in the 32nd minute, but saw her shot turned away by Hood's Gabi Dolan. A few minutes later, Keira O'Neail had a low shot on goal turned away by the Blazer Goalkeeper as well. St. Mary's would go into the break trailing by a tally.

Kylie Wells kept the St. Mary's squad within striking distance thanks to a six save first half effort.Â

Cicely Clark almost gave the Seahawks the equalizing goal they were looking for just five minutes into the second half, but saw her shot, that was traveling towards the top right hand corner, get gobbled up by Gabi Dolan.

The Blazers and Seahawks would go on to play a very defensive second half with neither team able to separate from the other.Â

Ella Raines gave St. Mary's one final push to get on the board in the final moments, but saw her shot go wide left.Â
