Daryn Alexander (Twinbrook, Md./Richard Montgomery) and
Micah Henry (Laurel, Md./Hammond) each put up 20-point games as the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team saw their two-game win streak snapped Tuesday night (Jan. 30). Despite scoring a season-best 95 points, St. Mary's College (11-10, 6-2 UEC) succumbed to a 100-95 setback at the hands of Lancaster Bible College (13-9, 7-2 UEC) to split the United East Conference series.
How It Happened
- The first half featured four tied scores and three lead changes and went to the Seahawks as SMCM shot a blistering 76.9-percent from the field, including going 4-of-5 from downtown.
- After Luke Rumbaugh knotted the game at 17-all with a three-pointer at 13:04, St. Mary's College used a 30-16 run to claim their biggest lead of the game – a 14-point advantage with 2:02 left in the half. Alexander and Henry combined for 19 points in the run with Alexander tallying 11
- St. Mary's College outscored the Chargers, 55-44, in the first 20 minutes to stake an 11-point halftime advantage.
- Lancaster Bible picked up its offense to hang around the Seahawks, upping its shooting percentage from 40-percent to 52.9-percent in the second half and outscoring the visitors, 56-40.
- The visitors stayed in front for a majority of the stanza, but the margin varied throughout. Alexander's three-pointer gave SMCM a 12-point lead (81-69) at 7:46, its largest of the half, capping a 15-5 run to rebuild a double-digit advantage after the Chargers worked down the deficit to 66-64 at 12:37.
- LBC picked up its first lead since 13-12 when Grant Sareyka knocked down two free throws at 3:56 to give the Chargers an 85-83 advantage.
- Lancaster Bible put together a 31-14 run to close out the final 7:24 of the game and secure its third straight win.

- First-year guard James Lerner (Herndon, Va./Maret) grabbed a season- and team-best seven rebounds and handed out a team-high five dimes plus scoring seven points.

- Connor Storr recorded a double-double with game-bests of 33 points and 10 boards while Sareyka dropped 30 points.
