St. Mary's College Women's Soccer Falls in the United East Conference Championship

Middletown, PA. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland Women's Soccer Team (17-2-3) traveled to Penn State Harrisburg  (10-5-4) to battle for the United East Conference Championship. After being tied at the end of regulation and overtime, the Seahawks fell in penalty kicks, 4-3.

How it Happened

  • The opening half played out to be a defensive battle with neither team generating a lot of threatening scoring opportunities. The Lions out shot the Seahawks 2-1 in the opening half of play, as the game went to intermission tied at 0-0. Kyleigh Bland made one first half save for St. Mary's.

  • The second half played out much like the first. The game was played in the midfield for a majority of the last 45 minutes. The Seahawks and Lions both registered four shots. Gracie Tourangeau registered the one shot on goal for St. Mary's. Kyleigh Bland made an additional two saves as regulation finished with a 0-0 draw.

  • Even an additional two overtime periods could not separate these teams. Both squads put one shot on goal in extended time. Kyleigh Bland was asked to make one save for St. Mary's.

  • The game would be settled in penalty kicks where Penn State Harrisburg emerged victorious, 4-3. Erin Clark, Cicely Clark, and Morgan Kresslein all converted their attempts for the Seahawks. Bland collected one stop.
