WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team opened United East Conference action Tuesday night (Nov. 26) with a road win. St. Mary's College (3-3, 1-0 UEC) handed Gallaudet University (0-6, 0-1 UEC) an 81-73 loss for the Seahawks' third consecutive win.
How It Happened
- SMCM broke open a neck-and-neck game, in which the visitors held an 18-17 edge at 8:02, with a layup by first-year forward Yassine Idrissa (Rockville, Md./Wootton). Idrissa's bucket sparked a 15-0 run and sent St. Mary's College into halftime with a 42-29 advantage.
- An 18-7 run to start the second half put the Bison back in the contest as Gallaudet pulled within two with 12:49 remaining in the game. The hosts stayed on the Seahawks' heels until SMCM outscored the Bison, 22-10, over a nine-minute span to distance themselves with a 76-62 margin with 1:48 left in the game.

- The Seahawks' scoring leader was first-year guard Tjay Beckles (Baltimore, Md./Overlea), who dropped a game- and career-best 23 points on 4-of-7 shooting from downtown. Beckles also added three caroms and three assists.
- Sophomore guard Ree Smith (Baltimore, Md./City College HS) and first-year forward Yassine Idrissa (Rockville, Md./Wootton) each tallied 17 points. Smith collected a career-best seven assists, added six rebounds, and notched a season-high two blocks while Idrissa blocked a career-best five shots and chipped in five boards.
- Sophomore guard James Lerner (Herndon, Va./Maret) tallied 14 points while first-year guard James Crimaudo (Riva, Md./South River) came off the bench to contribute 10 points.
